This will be my first dedicated headphone amp and I came here to seek your help with this choice. At the moment I connect my headphones thru a small Behringer mixer. The headphone output on it can drive them but it is very noisy. Not looking for anything very expensive, up to US $250 perhaps. It is for various music but usually classical (dynamics!) and jazz.
My sources are computer audio and Marantz 5001 CD player.
what do you recommend?

Traditionally, dt770 variations, and dt990's have functioned best with Meier amps. In my case I use both of the last of his German-built amps for my Darths, and Dt990/600. The dt880/600 works very well with a tube amp (in my case ASL MG Head OTl MkIII w/ NOS tubes)...........you can interp. that some of his later amps are appropriate...........I'll also say that the ASL is not near as good for that pair of dt990/600.

Bushguy: Is the ASL not good specifically for the 600ohm DT990s or the 250ohm ones as well? Can you offer some insight as to why it's not nearly as good? Much appreciated.
