WHat happened to zeppelin solo live? They killed it

I was listening to the song achiles last stand and damn, they ruined the solo live. Page tried some technical stuff, but killed what used to be their best solo.

what live set are you referring to?

i agree with you that an over the top solo can often detract from the overall fluidity a song once had. But i bet it was still badass live...

1) He slings his guitar too low, which makes it MUCH more difficult to play.
2) He was, most likely, completely ****** up at the time.

It really depends on which recordings you are listening to. In the mid to late 70s Page was seriously f'd up on a number of drugs and can struggle through some shows. As you move to like 78-79 and on he seems to really pick it back up (again). If you listen to say the last Knebworth shows...you will see how amazing he really was live...when he could feel his fingers.
