Now that the search is working again, I've been doing lots of searching. It seems that many older threads have originally contained images that just aren't there any more. What's happened to them? Are they automagically removed from older posts to reduce database size?

The images are not stored in the Head-Fi database but hosted by the submitter. If they remove them or change locations the link to the image will be broken and you will see the dreaded red X instead of a picture.

OK, thanks for the clarification. Actually I do not see the X as I use Opera. It's just that usually when with the IE there would be the X for a missing image, with Opera you see a small box labeled "image". On many threads I don't see even that.

Oh I almost forgot; Welcome to Head-Fi.

We have a small but growing number of Finnish members. There is a meet planned in the near future I believe. Check with Plainsong, she is organizing it.

Thanks for the welcome and the meeting tip. I had noticed the meeting thread but unfortunately it's nearly 400 miles from where I live.

400 miles is nothing when it comes to good sound. Take a friend and make a weekend of it.

Welcome to Head-Fi rauer.
I can tell you that in the case of some of the images I had posted in the past, they are no longer located on my web page. I only have a small amount of space to use, and I change the the pictures every once in a while.

My wife and I drove about 400 miles to a Head-Fi meet last February in Seattle. We did make a weekend of it and had great time, both at the meet and playing tourist in Seattle the next day.
