What generation of ipod is this ??

and a question

i came across this auction just now and i am interested in buying it...........

but just one question, what generation of ipod is this, i think you can tell it from the manu #, which is M8541

Its a 1st generation iPod.

it's not a 1st generation, 1st gen only came in 5 gigs.

It looks like a 3d gen to me. It can use usb and firewire. It appears to have touch buttons and wheel as does the 3d gen. I think this is the same one you can get at Apple.com refurbished for $199. Apple sale page

I vote 3rd. Really low battery life (relative) and really small.

It seems to be one of the early releases of the 3G iPod. That is a stock Apple glamour shot, however. But USB was not in 1G and 2G...

after winning the auction for 190 (260 CND)

i contacted the seller and he said it is the exact same thing as the one in the pic ........

so is a 3rd gen !!!

pretty happy right now
