The series kept getting weaker over time, culminating with Knife of Dreams where absolutely nothing happens whatseover. It shouldn't be too hard to improve over that.
In the meantime, I got a UK edition of Dust of Dreams by Steven Erikson, that I am much more looking forward to.
I was at a book signing with Steven Erikson, and he mentioned a story that terrified him: An elderly woman met Robert Jordan at a book signing, and told him she was afraid she would die before the series was completed (this anecdote was before Jordan himself passed away). Erikson vowed he would never put his own readers in that situation, even though he has not been able to stick entirely to his one-book-a-year schedule.
