What exactly is the difference b/t a DAP and an AMP??

I understand what a DAC and an amp are......I own a DAC/amp. But what is a DAP exactly? A Digital Audio Player, but does a DAP not have a DAC in it? I know the amp is optional, but isn't the DAC necessary? I'm a bit confused. Is the only difference that DAPs are standalone players but DAC or DAC/amps or amps cannot play music with a source player attached/connected to them??

Yes, you are correct. All DAP's have a buit-in DAC. Additional amps are optional.
