For those of you with space at a premium (my shelves all around the TV are filled with books - no room for home theater components)

What do you do when you need to stack your gear? I have a toshiba 3960 right now, and pretty soon the Solo amp is coming home. I want to use the turntable with it too, so I was looking for something where the tosh could rest under a stand/rack/riser and the turntable could rest on top. Also, i noticed some shielding problems with my computer monitor right next to it - the cables would let me know (thru my cmoy) if it got too close to the monitors by means of nasty oscillation warblings.

Therefore I was thinking of getting something like this -

Since it is made of steel, it should shield the source and interconnects ok - the Phono will have to fend for itself. I think the Toshiba is thin enough to tuck under there, but the Solo might have to get a new home. The Acrylic ones looked groovy (and might work well if i put the pandafooted toshiba on the acrylic on top) but i think the shielding thing would rear its ugly head again.

since the monitor isn't busted, i have no excuse to get a slim lcd monitor just yet. therefore, this looks like the least cost prohibitive solution. What do you think?

I made little mini component shelves from cutting boards and Ikea cabinet legs.

Wow that looks just awesome! Hmm, it is true, my steel box would look ugly, but functional. Rats.

LOL! Honestly I was thinking of just stacking them too, but the problem is that the Turntable is wider than the Toshiba, so it would sort of just be hanging off of it, which can't be good. And of course I can't put the tosh on top, since that would mean moving it every time i need to open the phono cover.

There's a Staples on the way home, I guess it couldn't hurt to stop by and see what they have right? J&R Computer World is right there too - *my wallet is screaming "No Mas!"*

wallet spared for now. i did the music test - "I could get 3 more cds, or another ksc-35 for this price!" since the one i found was 30 bucks ! forget it!

so instead i went to the apple store and swapped out my wonky 3G. unfortunately they still had NOS so i got another 3G instead of a 4G - oh well!

Nice, are those cutting boards bamboo? It is kinda hard to tell in the picture. Where did you get them?
