What do amps exactly do?

All I know is that they enhance the music experience. I'm thinking why not get one of these badboys. How's the Fiio E5 with the M-80s? Can it enhance/reduce bass?

The Aplifiers offers cleaner soundquality and shows more details in music with more power than DAPs. Fiio will add more bass but it won't help to shows more details.
