Nearly finished reading this for the 2nd time ... the
first read was many years ago, now I'm a more patient
reader and very much enjoying the journey. For example,
tracking Jack & Aliena's travel across France and Spain
(to Toledo) was fascinating.

I'm a big Wilbur Smith fan so have recently been reading his Assegai trilogy

Now the 3rd book in the Kingsbridge series, this story takes
place in 1300s England. The country is facing the black plague,
and the parallels to the Covid pandemic are eerily similar. As are
some characters ... I'll leave it to the reader to decide who the
character Prior Godwyn resembles

Finally got round to reading Frankenstein last year, thought it was just scientist creates monster to show he can and prove to his peers he's the most gifted, which then goes on a rampage - because he's obviously a monster(?), but it's much more than that. A very thought provoking book, quite a sad tale and if people hadn't judged the creation on looks alone things would've turned out very different for the creature. I guess the moral of the story is don't judge people on their looks because if enough do so it will warp even those with the best intentions. Because of a lack of love and understanding he became the monster they saw him as.
