What headphones do you think would be ideal for wearing to sleep? Why is that?
 
Budget is under $300 USD. I think I should prioritize comfort over anything else for this purpose. Sound is important but comes second to comfort. Any advice?

Depends on the type of sound you are looking for. Ideally the clamping force should not be high. I've fell asleep with my brainwavz hm5 which are my favorite closed back headphones and I woke up 8 hours later without any discomfort. My ears do get hot from the leather if the weather is pretty warm

Velour pads are easy to fall asleep with. Lam skin, Leather, pleather, faux leather, etc are sll a bit too firm and will generallly keep you up witht the slightly more pressure you feel on your jawline (with over ear cans).

I know you want a full size recommendation, but I think iem are a better choice for something to fall asleep in.

Ah that's a good point! I totally forgot that I posted this into the full size cans section but actually I was okay with either kind.
