what are you thinking about selling (and why)?

i'll start.

for some reason, i've acquired way more cables than i have use for, so i have already decided to sell one of balanced ICs (my audioquest jaguars, b/c i prefer my nordost heimdalls), a spare power cord (my red storm b/c my audioquest nrg-5 is better, maybe), and will in the near future sell one of my RCA ICs - either my silver resolutions or twisted pair ultras, or both. just don't have any use for them.

as for headphones, even though i just recently purchased a pair of balanced 600s, i just don't see myself using them much over my 650s. i'll keep them for a bit. never want to make rash decisions, but in the end, i will probably sell them. i also am toying with the idea of selling my RS1 or balancing them and selling my woodied SR325s. not sure which way i will go on that one. if i could balance them myself, i would keep the RS1, but i can't. i would have to pay someone to do. that's annoying. my 325s are already balanced. one of them will go. don't need two grados.

that's about it, for now.

I tried to sell my soul recently but the buyer said he was looking for something a little darker and more corrupted. I think that he PM'd Fitz after that.

Most of my headphones. In a nutshell, they take up too damn much space, and have my books squeezed into a corner where I can't even get to 95% of them. Out of anything I own that takes up a significant amount of shelf space, the headphones are the least important to me, and also have the highest resale value (and money is also something very useful for me right now). When I realized I've only read two books in the last year, I knew something had to be done. I still don't know if I can bring myself to do it though, so I'm testing the waters first by selling some of my spares.

Unfortunately he was a few years too late, although I promised him first dibs if I find a loophole in my current contract.

It's hard for me to conceive of selling most of my headphones. I'm a bit of a packrat.

On the low end, it's because they're junk, and because a trip to the post office is so annoying that anything less than about $40 alone isn't justification.

Case in point, I still have an MDR-V600 in very clean condition. Anybody who wants to knock on my door can have it for $20 but I Will Not Ship the thing, and $20 is about what i could get for it on ebay.

You can have my Pro4AAT for $15. It has new pads.

On the mid- and high-end, I can't identify any one can that i never prefer over something else, or that aren't just academically interesting.

I could be talked into selling my K340. It's nice but it aint all that.

The only thing I actually want to unload is the K-701. I've given it a couple hundred hours and still feel no love for it.

I'll probably take some photos and put it up this weekend with some other stuff I'm not using. I like the other stuff, but all of it has taken a secondary or tertiary role behind other gear. Besides, it should pay off the second half of the Zana Deux without having to touch savings or credit. That's worth it right there.

I'm a packrat too, but even with the hanger system I devised the headphones still take up a disproportionate amount of space, and there is nowhere else to put them. I'm actually soon going to also have to order a wall mounted CD/DVD rack to put up in some of the usable wallspace I have left, because I'm running out of room on my main rack which holds 1600 CDs / 756 DVDs. For my various hobbies / interests, I really need twice the space I actually have, so creative storage methods only go so far.

I don't have to make a trip to the post office for domestic packages though, so that makes selling things easier, it's just the difficult matter of convincing myself to actually sell them.

I'm currently holding on to a bit too much stuff (nowhere near Fitz' levels
tongue.gif
but it's still "a lot" for me)

- A900: bought a year ago, only used for <20 hours (+ 50h burn-in), stored in the original box 99,9% of the time... just not my thing. Tried to sell it (or give it as a present) to my friends, but they are not into headphones and would never spend >$100 on them and wouldn't even have them as a gift! (i.e. they wanted something else...) This one will end up in the FS/FT-section pretty soon.

- Sennheiser HD497: only use it as a test-phone for DIY-builds... don't like the sound and don't like the comfort. I wouldn't even feel comfortable asking money for this one

(give-away material?)

- PX100: actually being used by my dad for so long now, I consider it his... so can't sell it.

- D66SL (eggo): I haven't used those in a year (stored in a dust-free cloth-lined box)... but I like them too much (comfort and looks) to let them go.

- KSC75: I actually do not really like them... I have SR-60's that I prefer in every way (even comfort) over them. They haven't cost me much, they don't take up much space... so no real need to get rid of them either.

- Senn MX350 & 450: if I ever decide to go to the gym or something, I'll have some cheap things to use

- Panasonic RP-JE50: sorry, but selling those is just too gross in every way (they aren't really clean and they sound like crap as well
biggrin.gif
)

- Marantz CD5001: Ever since I've bought the NAD C542, the Marantz hasn't been used anymore. It is one year old and in pristine condition like most of my decent stuff. I really should sell this on, as it actually is a nice, cheapish and decent step-in CDP and I think it could make someone happy for a good while.

- various portable amps: I have a PengAmp, LDM+, Cmoy (DIY) x2 and I hardly use my portable setup nowadays and even then I'd only need one. Mostly I keep the LDM+ in the set-up, but that's more because of the fact that it is the smallest
smily_headphones1.gif
I'm contemplating building a Mini3 and then these will be up for sale (LDM+, PengAmp) and give-away (Cmoys) pretty soon I guess.

- HeadFive #151: in very good condition and sounds great... but not as good as the Millet Max with my MS2i. Keeping it around more for the sentimental value (a H-F special) but I honestly do not use it at the moment. I should be using it in an office setup (but I kinda like a smaller option there and I use a Cmoy now). If I decide to build a Mini3 or something for the office, this one is free to go.

- Millet Max(?): I built two of those (a mostly standard Jrossel kit with Muse KZ's and a Black-Gates version). I planned to give one to a good friend for helping me out, but he really doesn't have time to listen to headphones anymore. I still have to compare them side by side but I'll definitely only be keeping one of them. The other one will be going for parts costs. Still, I want to be sure of which one to keep, so this might take a while.

it seems that a bunch of people are just sitting on unused gear (most low dollar value). i also have my myryad z110 cd player, which replaced by my meridian G08, goes unused. i should sell it, but a combination of laziness, size, and probably low price gives me little incentive to do so. in general though, i try to sell items that i don't use. makes sense, as i have no desire to collect things and would rather use the money for other purchases/upgrades.

My ATH-W1000s....even though I love them. I just have to sell stuff to be able to try new stuff, and I have some Shure SE530s that I already bought and now need to pay for. I want to move in a IEM direction because background noise really bugs me and I share my house with a wife and dogs. But even the hum of my computer bugs me and I hear none of that with IEMs.
