With the release of the new album, I've been meaning to have a good session with all of their studio output too. :L3000:

Well, as they say, if you don't like the weather in the Midwest, just wait a day! So this evening, even though it's still around 60 degrees now, it feels chilly (lower humidity helps), so this type of chilly Fall evening always--for whatever weird reason (perhaps I bought the CD in the Fall way back when?)--puts me in the mood for this album.

^ US original vinyl ripped to FLAC

It features two of my favorite Rush songs, and two of the most beautiful songs I know of (yes, I said Rush and beautiful! there is no incongruence there imo...I'll even add that a huge reason, I believe, of what makes these two songs--and many other Rush songs--so emotionally resonant is Geddy's beautiful/incredible vocal delivery on them), both musically and lyrically: Time Stand Still and Mission. Those songs still send shivers down my spine every time I listen to them...especially Time Stand Still which, as I age, only becomes more and more meaningful (in a partially elegiac way) to me. "Experience slips away..."

^ Featuring Aimee Mann! And Geddy's infamous "raccoon hat" hair!

^ My favorite version of Mission: live from the Snakes and Arrows tour. So glad I got to see it performed twice on that tour.

PS: Yes, I even enjoy Tai Shan. Never had a problem with it. It's something different, and I respect it just for the experimentation, but I quickly got into it, way back in those dark pre-internet days in the early 90's when I first bought the CD and had no familiarity with most of the songs.

Just got back from seeing Al Di Meola at Yoshis Oakland. I didn’t know he had a serious heart attack in Europe last fall, first tour since. 2 shows each Friday and Saturday, one Sunday, 5 shows all sold out. He was very grateful for his fans, played 2 solid hours going back to the 70s and 80s. Unbelievable. He finished the set with Song to the Pharaoh Kings and a rousing audience ovation. My favorites are from these albums.
