Metal and Classical. IDK. It's strange and beautiful. But, I see parallel's in Mahler's dramatic mood shift and epic scope in much of modern progressive metal.

Just scrapping these multi disc classical anthologies. Listening to Yo-Yo Ma's unaccompanied Bach suites (1-4),  digging in pretty heavily to Bernstein's interpretation of Mahler's 4th and 5th symphony (movement 3 is gorgeous), and Beethoven's 1st and 3rd and the first CD of Perahia Mozart of lovely piano concertos no. 1 and 2. This  Perahia series is among the most lush, and beautiful sounding classical discs I have in my albeit limited collection.

A couple new purchases. I meant to come home with more, but anybody else in Chicago can tell you it's incredibly hot outside today. I decided to cut my trip short after one store, but still came back with a couple great additions to the collection.
