What Are You Listening To Right Now?

After 3 years of thinking about it I finally decided to buy a turntable and I'm really glad I did! I'm having to repurchase all the vinyl I had as a kid but I'm fine with that. The sound isn't as perfect as digital but that's the idea. I find the whole experience of playing/listening to vinyl to be very nice. I posted about it on my blog earlier in the week: http://marksinderson.com/analog-music-and-why-vinyl-records-and-photography-go-together/

Nice blog post... thanks for sharing and good luck with your collection.

Normally, I enjoy Ray LaMontagne with a glass of bourbon, but my daughter thinks I drink too much, so tonight it's Fiji water.

I'll throw on Ray - Jolene and toss back a few ounces of this Angel's Envy for you.

Just added to my Amazon CD wishlist (I have to pause on one-click buy action; I have to catch up on the CDs I haven't even listened to, yet, but your description made this a no-brainer).

Thanks!

I'd give this a shot. It's a short in studio show of 4 or 5 tracks. Gives you an idea of the sampling skills that the guy has.

Drum Nation Vol. 2

The first track 'Meetings' (featuring Mike Portnoy, Andy West, Mike Kenneally, Jens Johannsonn) is just mind-boggling on the PSB-M4U2.

A nice read, and a relief too, to see you have bought a good turntable. When I hear people say they are getting back into vinyl and have bought a turntable, it all too often turns out that they've bought a Crosley or something similar, as advertised in a colour supplement or Ronco catalogue ("turn your old vinyls (sic) into MP3s!").

They are also the people who usually wax nostalgic about pops and scratches.

For me, the best thing about having a turntable is that, in second-hand shops, the vinyl section is about 100% more interesting than the CD section. For a few pounds, you can take a chance on something that looks interesting and maybe open up a new avenue of musical discovery.

Some great heavy music created in 2014. Listening to a couple of my favorites:
