ENRICO RAVA: “QUOTATION MARKS” - In depth @ECM

Above Rava Album was introduced to me by our audio fiend :)smiley:) @archdawg in PM as being the one Rava recording Dawg holds in highest esteem since it's LP release in 1973.

As an aside, that's a sentiment we all can empathize with, those releases which were contemporary releases as to when first heard in which ever genre or our specific generation and the great music of the day.

I was led to find Enrico Rava's prolific works first with his 2019 Joe Lovano ECM collaboration on "Roma":

Interestingly enough I was informed in PM both @archdawg and I posted this 2009 "New York Days" ECM album on the same day, while the subject of my PM was re: Thanx for posting Airto 1971 Album "Free" which I had liked enough to have saved however not played in a long while.
Funny, that's how the serendipity goes, ya know:thumbsup::smiley: Like I like it!!!

I bought Fresh Aire #1 - #4 a few years ago - tremendous music.

For today, inspiration from various Head-Fi members. Thanks, all.
Penguin Cafe Orchestra - PCO.png
This music is a hybrid of classical, folk, jazz and ambient. Nicely complex.

Milos - Blackbird.png
I think this album would have been better by simplifying the arrangements.
Miloš' playing is exquisite and he doesn't need much accompaniment ...
the best songs are just his guitar and a bass. And, he can play the bass on
his classical 6-string anyway.

The vocalist here is Gregory Porter.

This comes straight from his heart into my ears. Song by George Harrison.

David Bowie - Scary Monsters.png
The reviewer called this album Bowie's last great album. Next step - the 80s.

For the longest time I wasn't buying music, so the last Stanley Clarke album I bought was in 2009 with Jazz In The Garden. This is what I have for of him on CD...

Most of those from these two boxsets....

The Complete 1970's includes the first five in the image above, plus the "Live 1976-1977" album. Also have those first 9 shown on vinyl. Also have the Clarke/Duke Project as well as the trio of Stanley Clarke, Ai Di Meola, and Jean Luc Ponty (all on CD).

Nice collection. Off the top of my head, I have School Days, Rocks, Pebbles and Sand, and Hideaway from the above albums.

I've got some Rava albums floating around in my collection, both ECM and non-ECM (his "The Plot" remains a favorite); and of course Lovano is great as well (I listened to his recent "Our Daily Bread" not long ago, and, while not a favorite, it's pretty good).

^ Double album where Jarrett plays originals on the organ. I like classical organ music, and this blends that with an almost modern electronic ambient sound at times. Very interesting. Perfect for a chilly, rainy day!
