Authentic Texas Chili

Authentic Texas Chili has no beans in comparison to the American mainstream version. It has chunks of beef and like a spicy beef stew. This was very spicy.

This is an American food that’s very rare that most Americans have never heard of since the bean version is the standard version. Finding the original non bean version is extremely rare outside of Texas

EDIT:

I just found out that the place I ate at is a famous place and was featured on a TV show

Classic Tex Mex Enchiladas

The classic version of the Tex-Mex enchiladas is very common and this version was great.

Carne Guisada

The next dish is called carne guisada. Another version of a beef stew like dish. The interesting thing is that it is a popular Tex-Mex dish but mostly popular in Texas. Very rare to see it outside of Texas. Another interesting thing is that it has a close resemblance to the original non bean Texas chili.

Yes there are versions of carne guisada in the Puerto Rican culture but it’s mostly known as a Texas thing

Overall Thoughts:

For the record, I usually do not like Tex- Mex dishes outside of Texas especially in the northern states. However in Texas they get it right and it’s delicious. Perhaps I’m stating the obvious but if you never liked Tex-Mex foods, try it in Texas. It might change your mind.

Trip to Austin, Texas

Beef brisket barbecue at Terry Blacks barbecue

Many people have the opinion that the best barbecue in the category of American beef barbecue is in Austin Texas. It is widely accepted that Austin is the city to visit for serious American beef barbecue…(Note: I mention American because there’s different categories of BBQ from other countries too)

This was excellent and the best American barbecue dinner I’ve ever had. Even the side dishes were excellent. The most perfect American version bbq I’ve ever had.

2 nights earlier I had the beef rib barbecue at the same restaurant. Also excellent

The beef rib was tender and I was able to cut it with a plastic disposable knife. Here’s a close up shot

Beef brisket at Labarbecue. This is another famous Texas Barbecue restaurant. Here’s a close up shot of the Texas style beef brisket in all it’s delicious glory. Slow smoked for many hours and remains moist and juicy. Even the sausage was incredible. To me it seems like Texas makes the best American sausages.

Edit:

I found this YouTube video about this place I ate at. Coincidentally I did see the lady speaking in the video and she seemed like a nice person when I was there

This bbq place was also in the movie Chef that starred Jon Favereu and a cameo with Scarlett Johansson. For more information there’s tons of YouTube videos on this place

Here’s one of the videos with Anthony Bourdain as he also visited this place

The famous breakfast tacos from Veracruz All Natural truck restaurant

Breakfast tacos are mostly a Texas thing and rarely seen outside of Texas. You might see breakfast burritos but they are a little different.

The first breakfast taco is called the El Sancho and the second one is the bacon, egg potato, refried beans and cheese

Excellent. This truck restaurant is considered one of the best breakfast taco joints in Texas. Personally I think this is the most enjoyable breakfast I’ve ever had in the category of American breakfast. I can see why they get rave reviews

Here’s the truck and beautiful seating area

Nacho chips and melted cheese….. on the highest level???

Yes I know this is a junk food found in every major city in America but in Texas it is taken more seriously. They usually call it queso and chips.

This was amazing. The cheese had chorizo mixed in and the nacho chips had an incredible texture that I have never seen. Perhaps it was made in the restaurant. After eating this, I don’t think I could go back to the standard nacho chips. It was the best version I’ve ever had.

Here’s another version I had

Texas takes their nacho dip (queso) seriously. I had heard about this phenomenon for a while. It’s sort of like kid’s food for adults

Something healthy!

That looks absolutely delicious! Unfortunately, my current dietary options are a bit limited due to a nasty stomach bug I picked up somewhere. For the past couple of days, I've been surviving on nothing but dry bread. The good news is that things are gradually improving. I reached out to the partner pharmacy, and they provided me with some effective medications to alleviate the stomach discomfort. It's a relief to see positive changes in just the last two days since I started taking the prescribed medications..
