i hate doing this, because i'm pretty sure there is a thread for stuff like this, but i honestly searched for about 30 minutes and couldn't find anything....
what are these and how are they?

It's an elevator. A place where awkward silence occurs all the time. It's a good place to listen to headphones (just like the dude on that pic) since no one ever says a word.

Technically it's not. I'm getting the feeling that people think this is only an IEM section but the name of it clearly states "Portable Headphone, Earphone and IEM Directory."

I'm hoping this "IEM Only" vibe goes away soon

Or they can change this section to Earphones/IEMs only, since there's no exact way of determining if a headphone is portable or not, unless it's specified by the manufacturer.
