since "Dan" posted that great other thread there, I was wondering what your personal opinion is about HEADphones, since I can't stand EARphones

I think the A-T W11JPN/R are the best looking, but the Sony D55SL are second and the CD770/870 come in third

Believe it or not, I think the Senn HD570's look pretty damn sexy. I don't know if they sound as good as they look, but they're really cool looking.

I'd have to give my vote to the ATH-W2002s, the laquer finish is IMO the best of their series...too bad the price is higher than they're probably worth. The ATH-W11JPNs are up there too. Gotta love wood.

The Sony MDR-F1s look great too, but supposedly don't have the sonics to match.

Grados do have a certain spartan beauty to them...I'd give the HP-1 and 2 top votes though - without the true metallic finish, it's just not the same.

i just sold my preciouses (my MDR F1's), and yes, they were a beauty to behold...IMO, they defintely had the sonics to match. not the best, but i think, very similar (and again not as good as) the HD600's in that, they needed the right system synergy to shine. they had the warmest presentation i've ever heard, and me, i love that type of sound. further more, i think the wooden Audio Technicas have the most beauty because, me, i can't get away from wooden audio products...they're the best

yes, even the retro looking Grados look perty to me!

I'd say that of those headphones that I own or have owned or have on order, the Sennheiser HD 590, the Grado SR-325 and the Sony MDR-CD2000 looks the coolest. Too bad the Sennheiser 590 doesn't sound as good as it looks (to my ears), while the Grado 325 is too bright for my current listening tastes. Only time will tell whether I like or dislike the Sony CD2K on my equipment.

Those Panasonic cans do look interesting, but they look a bit too much like Panasonic's answer to the F1s for me. Can't remember the last time I've heard a Panasonic headphone.

And Eagle...have you heard the CD1700s by comparison? Some say that those sound better than the CD2000s, but I haven't heard either myself ( too happy with these grey behemoths on my head
