I'm willing to pay up to $100. I ONLY care about sound quality - which has the best overall sound quality? I was planning to buy the shure E4C aka SLC4, but I've heard some bad things about it.

i would say super.fi 3, ety er6i, or westone um1 depending on your tastes. Look around, you may be able to snag some more expensive stuff for under $100 in the buy/sell forum here.

Nuforce NE8 sound great for most music. Under $100 I haven't heard better for clarity. Bass is a little rolled off so if big bass is important to you the NE8 may not be the one for you.

IF you could stretch your budget to 159$, the Head-Direct RE0 would be the best choice.

If the HF5 are still $99, that's probably your best bet. Otherwise, I'd probably go with the Altec Lansing im716.

If you can find the HF5 under $100, then those are great. I agree with antonyfirst, the RE0 are awesome for $160 if you are willing to go that far in price.
