What are the best closed headphones anyways?

Ultrazone Edition 9, JVC DX1000, Stax 4070 and Sony MDR-R10 would be the short-list as you don't mention what that price is.

There is no such thing as best cuz tastes vary.

What kind of music you listen to? And do you have some sort of amplifier and what you use as your music source? Tell us these 3 things and you should get some choices in no time.

Considering the other headphones the op has mentioned I'm guessing those are all out of his price range.

Check out the new Denon lineup. Sounds promising.

Of those in current production the Stax 4070 and Ultrasone Edition 9 might be the two best sounding closed headphones. More to choose from if you also take discontinued headphones in consideration.

In a more moderate price range- the Denon D2000 and Proline 750 offer great sound for $300. Darth Beyers are a little more expensive, but are great if you enjoy mega bass.

love your avatar; that album is awesome

i have a mister x pimeta, opa627 opamps, and i like electroclash, new folk (Physc folk), ambient, stuff like that, and some triphop like bjork and such.. but i was wanting the dt770 to use portable as well, like on trips and such ebcause they are closed.

I am a member in good standing of the Ultrazone with my Proline 2500s, iCans and most recently Edition 9s. My vote of what I have heard is the UE9s.

That was not the titled question but what are the best headphones. But in context with only those two headphones, it all depends on what sound profile you prefer. You need to listen to both to get the sound picture of both. Most I would think would go for the DT770s. But my preference would be the A900s.

The DT770s have a built-in modification upgrade that you can get from Headphile which puts them in a different league from the base models. That is if you get the right version. There are multiple DT770s.
