im always ruining my headphone cable, so the detachable cable on the k240 and i think the k271 is really appealing. are there other better headphones with that feature? i was thinking about the 601 or 701 but then i saw the cable, looks like i'd rip 'er right out?

We don't hear much about damaged AKG cables. They're tougher than they look but if you really abuse 'em you'll break 'em.

The K271 is without any doubt the best AKG with a detachable cable because your only other options are the K240-S and K141-S.

But i don't think that these will help you with your cable-breaking habit. They have locking mini-XLR connectors, and you're just as likely to break the connector as you are to break a fixed cable.

I suggest that you either learn to be more careful or learn how to repair cables.

well it's actually not breaking the cable, it's bending the little rubber sheath where they meet, until it eventually cracks and the cable starts swinging around. that particular sheath dealie is all over the place even on expensive audio stuff, and i noticed it on the 601. i thought maybe that wouldnt happen on the metal connector; ive never had a mini-xlr but if it's anything like regular xlr it can take alot of right angles.
