what are some decent closed headphones that aren't too much

i also saw the EH250. how is this one? i like the style and headroom seems to think its a pretty good headphone.

I listen to just about everything, especialy classical, jazz, funk, and rock, so I want something that isn't going to be good for only one thing. I'm looking for good clarity throughout the range. Also, I like it to be just a little bit punchy without being overdramatic

hmmm, well its between that and possibly the SR60's, which although I'd prefer closed headphones, they are for dorm listening, so its not that big of a deal, and from the reviews I'm reading on the sound quality it seems worth it.

What do you guys think? I wanted something portable, but I'm thinking of possibly getting the SR60's and then those Koss clip-ons for $20 or so which are supposedly a great value.

SR-60's might not be the best idea for a dorm. There is open, and then there is open. Grado's block out zero sound, it's as if you are not wearing headphones.

Cuts both ways too. I hope your roommate enjoys listening to your adult movies.

o yeah, and for comparison, how do all of these sound compared to the bose triports? I ask, since they are the only "expensive" closed headphones I've listened to, since they have them to listen to at BestBuy. I like those a lot, but they're just too expensive

I prefer the HD280 sound, which I would describe as a bright Senn house sound. However, Grado fans likely will prefer the SR60. Descriptions of it's sound are easily found by using the search function.

If you're not at all concerned about whether the sound leaks out of your cans and bothers others, then the SR60 should be considered as well. Otherwise, you should limit your search to closed cans like the HD280 or for a little more $ the RP-21.

What's your price range, and are you willing to buy new, refurb, or used?
