took one up to the gyro gearloose folks on sunday. said it would be 2-3 weeks to figure it out. turns out that they're an "authorized sony repair" facility. anyway, while using the other yesterday here in dilbertville, i got a nasty skip; sounded almost like a cap gun. happened simultaneously with a window switch on my monitor. distance from nearest corner of D25 to monitor: about 9 inches. not the first time that this happened, but monitor activity doesn't always cause the player to burp; and not all skips have happened close to other equipment. came across a reference while surfing last night that sony portable cd players were prone to radio interference.

anyone found that their player (sony or otherwise) misbehaves around a pc?

toodles,
robert

The D-25s I have on my desk at work is about 12" from one computer, and 40" from another. It's about 24" away from my 21" CRT. I've never had any kind of interference with it at all; it plays hour after hour, day after day without issue, no matter what tasks I'm doing with either computer.

Now that I think of it, that D-25s is also within 3 feet of a fluorescent light, and within 6 feet of three other computers and two other monitors, which are situated on the other sides of my cubicle walls.
