Very clever design. If the price is right, might consider getting into vinyl again. With a Mani, should be nice.

I certainly like the idea of Vinyl. But even if the fiddliness of it weren't prohibitive, I can't imagine that living in San Francisco (or New York, or whatever European capital I next choose) will lend itself to the shelves of records that I would need if I were to become serious about analog. Nevertheless, it's an aspiration. Yggy must take precedence though...

Mike, is the height of the tone arm on Sol adjustable? I'm assuming, best I could tell from the video, that the pivot point is pressed into the plinth? You have probably thought of this, but it popped into my head so I'm posting it. Could the pivot point have a fine tread and screw into the plinth and set with a simple lock ring as a relatively inexpensive way to adjust VTA? Even a set screw from the side if the point was a slide fit. Sometimes a little adjustment is all it takes to go from mediocre to wow and no cartridge nervousa is required to hear the results.

If I found the right Conrad Hoffman he's designed one very fine turntable bearing!

I would defer to Jase on this, but I believe pivot point is primarily useful in power amps. Yes the 405 traffic consistently sucks. Even at 4 in the morning, it is affected by phantom accidents resulting in tedious slowdowns for no apparent reason. Precisely why I moved out to Agua Dulce - an infrastructure for less than a thousand people where less than a thousand people live - not an infrastructure for two million where ten million live.

Now, WRT Jil, may I ask you why you chose to go with one clock only (i.e. the 48 KHz family)? Lowering the cost, I figure, and this is fine and reasonable, especially given the hard-to-beat price you set for this unit. But beside cost, is there also some technical or design-related reason (perhaps two dedicated clocks wouldn't fit on a Jil-sized card)? Please believe, this is no criticism, I'm just genuinely curious about the design choices. Thanks in advance, as always, for your possible reply!

Fantastic! It is a thing of beauty. The arm cuing mechanism is robust and nicely integrated into the plinth. Looks like a pleasure to use. If you put the Schiit logo on the front of the motor so it can proudly be displayed then the rocker switch will naturally be in the proper place, the back!

When one drops a needle or provides another analog signal to digitize, the sampling rate choice is at the discretion of the operator/archiver. Now the difference between media space of 44.1 versus 48KHz sampling rate multiples is roughly 8 percent, a trivial amount in 2017, with terabyte drive pricing dropping to vanishingly low levels.

When one records at 48 as opposed to 44.1KHz sampling rate multiples, the transition band space in the filter nearly doubles, from 2.1KHz to 4KHz. This allows for a simpler (read better sounding) filter in the Jil. In other words, it allows for a simpler, smoother, easier on the signal filter both in the analog and in particular the digital sense for a great trade-off of only 8% more recording/archive space.
