Well, is it "her living room"? Settle that question first. I know my wife and I called dibs on various rooms 'cause stupid.

Any way, pull up one of the speaker porn boards and find the ugliest thing (from her POV) you can find. Keep suggesting those to her until she reaches of the point of thinking the Tektons look good.

OTOH, for furniture grade stuff I'd go Legacy Audio, Selah, Vienna Acoustics or Salk. Those things are almost art!

I've really thought about Legacy speakers going back to my 20's, now that I could probably swing it I'm not so sure. The Double Impact is an incredible deal @ 3k.

I the my room, your room thing, I let her "win" most of the time. 'cause experience.

If you can get those properly integrated with the Tektons, bliss!

Best thing I ever did was pick up REW and phase align my subs (4!) with each other and L/R. The dynamics and tautness of bass lines is a beautiful thing to hear after that.

Ya and the sub bass is the hardest to get right. More sure as hell isn't better. DSP is a godsend here.

I'm thinking the Tekon Double Impacts with Freya and a pair of Vidars would be a nice upgrade to my Outlaw/LS-50 living room system.

Just how do I get Her to accept the giant speakers in "her living room"?
Play music she really likes, and avoid stuff she doesn't until she says yes!

I've got a single Vidar running with my Double Impacts now. You'll have to wait a while for the review to publish, but a single Vidar will drive them very loudly without any effort at all. The DIs are very efficient. The best I've heard mine sound was with a 20 wpc First Watt F7 at a friend's house in a room much larger than mine, but that amp is $3000. To make the Vidar work a little harder, I'll be swapping the DIs out for a pair pf Magneplaner .7 later this week, though for the next few days I have it driving a new pair of ELAC Debut B6.2 continuously to break them in.

Disclaimer** drinking and rambling again.

Interesting read on the yggy thread, before I lost interest and gave up. That kind of thing is why I avoid Facebook other then to post the occasional photo of an outing with my wife to say I love her and all that. Coincidentally (or not) that need for public recognition is probably what drove said person to post said hack job in the yggy thread. I had never heard of that company or both websites until today. And yes I briefly perused them. Now they have my info, a probable goal in the world of data mining - they can pair it with my router data they bought from the Russians. I'm sure their web traffic went up considerably today. It's the culture we live in, it's sad really, but the anthem debate was almost non existent before you know who brought it up at a rally in Alabama last year, so you know this kind of thing works. I'm still not sure what those companies do to make money, as I couldn't tell if they sold anything, but I'm sure this manufactured controversy will pay off for them (and Schiit too probably).

I thought it was a nice touch for their accolytes to accuse Jason and Jude of collusion, (people thought Jason wrote Jude's post).

Smart and/or determined people can make any argument or discussion sound like their viewpoint is the holy grail by how they present themselves. Very few people want to admit or entertain the idea that their viewpoint/idea/thoughts/beliefs are incorrect or off base. I'm thankful that I'm smart enough to know I'm often wrong, and that other ideas/thoughts/methods/beliefs could be better.

For what it's worth, I've seen Jason admit he's an idiot many times on his thread, I haven't finished this thread in it's entirety but I would imagine Mike is similar if Jason has been friends and done business with him for years. I've also never read them calling out competition, for any reason. Sounds like people I'd like to do business with and buy from. (I have a magni/mimby to prove it).

I might post this last question on the yggy thread, or even make an acct on audio review.

Who cares if something measures better or worse if it sounds good? Does it make it less real/enjoyable if it sounds good but measures differently then something else? When you go to a movie and see a huge action scene play out, or breathtaking views of space or what have you - do you come away enjoying it less because it had cgi or old fashioned special effects, and isn't real?

Anyway, made for an interesting read while I had my morning coffee, and again tonight sitting outside after the family went to bed.

Hope more folks realize this a hobby and supposed to be fun... None of it really matters (except the mudslinging, thats never cool, #highschoolneverends)

Night all. Be good to one another.

Mike I'll probably never hear a yggy, but I love my mimby. Keep on being you.

Get the YGGY........ASAP.......:L3000:

https://www.baratza.com/get-excited-270wi/ This might take precedence over Yggy—I may leave the smart grinder pro at the weekend pad for pour overs and keep the espresso rig at the weekday.
Blasphemy, I tell you..........:triportsad: Get the YGGY before you get any more harebrained notions...........!!!!!

I have LS50s and a pair of Sunfire XTEQ 8's out there now, got the sub's cheap:)
Driving this with a Outlaw 2160 stereo receiver. It's actually a sweet sounding setup now that Yggy is the dac.
The amp in this thing is very good sounding and measures well, similar to Vidar in that respect. I could go Yggy>Saga to Outlaw amp direct for now. this would be an improvement.

The KEF's are anything but efficient, I doubt a pair of Vidars would really be massive overkill on these things.
I'd really like a pair of the .7s, they make them not far from my house.

But the KEFs are really going to be much more civilized than the DI's in her mind based purely on appearance.

Also, I know a guy, he's installer and a dealer, he could get me a Primaluna for less. That would be interesting..

Or a Rok! but no remote.:triportsad:

Hey Schiit Rok v2 with a remote this time?

A friend has a pair of LS50's he's driving with a 250 x 2 McIntosh amp (that I sold him). He plays them loud and they love the power reserve- a pair of Vidar's would be exceptional, and if you go for other speakers the Vidar's will still reign supreme.

It is the Bose of the coffee world.

Whew! I was worried it was the Beats of the coffee world and that I'd been duped by clever marketing again.

Nice to know I can run with the 'big dogs' coffee-wise.

Yes, this is most likely given the tremendous value of Freya and 2 Vidar's, besides I own a Yggy, so I'd like to be balanced in that system as well, with an upgrade.
