Can you please post a picture? I assume you are talking about replaceable faceplate clips? Are you within 2 year warranty window? If so, they can send you a replacement. But tbh, 2nd gen W-series now features metal clips that a lot more durable, so I would contact Westone to see if you can purchase these since new W80 gen2 comes with it already. I will also ping them to find out if those could be purchased separately, and will post a reply once I hear back. 2nd gen W80 is the same as 1st gen, just enhanced with v2 BT cable and metal faceplates. So, "upgrading" your 1st gen to metal faceplates is a good idea, imho.

Hi, first of all I don't intend to any argument about cables, and I'm a convert from a non-believer to a believer until I make my own cables. This is a DIY cable I made myself as I do make my own cables to all of my HPs, IEMs, buds and interconnects.

It's a mix braid of copper, silver and treated copper with mixed material Terminated to 2.5mm balanced rhodium plated plug for sp1k config. As for comparison to ref8 cable, It's soft and non retaining memory wire. No microphonics/noise from cable rubbing while dangling. As for sound stage, it is wider and deeper. Clarity and sparkle non sibilant highs. More emotions to Mids and vocals. Very well controlled and accurate mid bass. Better quality Sub bass and deeper. This is tuned based on my preference and my liking so it may differ to others. I also do mods on the nozzle, sleeves and tips.

Cheers and Thanks!

Happy Holidays!

So, I take it's SP1000 SS with AMP module and W80 with a custom handmade cable? I'm quite familiar with SPK SS + W80 pair up, but was always curious about added AMP module. W80 doesn't need extra power, but I'm sure AMP module adds some coloring? Can you please compare how W80 pairs up directly vs with amp module?

Hi twister6,
Yup you're right. W80 don't need extra power. With the use of the amp doesn't add coloration to it but adds a wider sound stage and better separation. (The feeling of non-congested and free.) If it makes sense to it. Hehehe

Of course, it's all about the synergy! What about the cable? Did you make it yourself? which wires? Nice Xmas colors, btw

Thanks twister6, yeah i handmade the cable. Colors fit for the holiday. Its a silver cable but not sure about the purity. It's a nice cable, sturdy as well but I find it stiff, but non the less it's usable.
