Hi all, I presently own a pair of um1 as well as ms1 and was just wondering if i should get a pair of um2. Could anybody comment if the um2's SQ is better than the ms1 and if the price difference between the um1 and 2 is justified.
Thanks

I don't know MS1 but UM1 to UM2 is a very nice upgrade in all aspects. However UM2 is somewhat pricey. Nowadays you could probably find SE530 for about the same price which is an even better IEM.

UM2 is way too pricey imo. I got it refurbed, and even that was a little pricey for the SQ (£110 versus £230 new)....it's good, but it's not £230 great!!!

For just a bit of an extra outlay the UM3X is a better more up-to-date choice.

I just feel that although the UM2s are very comfortable and have no microhponics they don't quite have anything really special about their sound - either in terms of raw clarity or in terms of fun sparkle. They are 'fun' though in terms of their bass impact, clarity, roundness and comfort to listen too.

Sometimes they are really revealing, sometimes less so. I've never been fully at ease with the UM2 SQ.

There are better headphones out there for cheaper. I suggest the Phonak PFEs, they have a sound very similar to the MS1s.
