As a current (and very happy) Livewires owner, I am looking for a back-up pair of IEMs. With this notion, I have read alot of reviews on the Westone UM2's.

Most everyone has indicated they are one of the most comfortable IEM's manufactured, but in contrast a good amount of people are turned-off by their rolled-off highs. In other words, they tend to lean toward Bass-Heavy

Question:
For those who own the UM2's, if you had to choose...is the primary attraction their "Comfort" or "Sound
?

They're not bass heavy, they're treble light.

Comfort for me.
They are very comfortable to use. Both because of their slim design, and the non-microphonic cable. They sound pretty good as well...

I bought them for comfort. I am keeping them as my primary IEM because I love the sound signature.

They're very comfortable. I think they sound fantastic, too, particularly for rock. I don't think the UM2 gets the respect it deserves, since it is an older model at this point. Having said that, I just picked up some SE530's, and they may be just a bit better. Very similar bottom end, but a bit nicer in the midrange. I find both of them to have very musical, if non-analytical high end.

Anybody compare the UM2 to the Shure SE310?

I have had my UM2s for a number of years, and have enjoyed them immensely, however my Atrios sound better to me and are as comfortable.

I like the sound but havent heard enough others to comment on any alleged rolling off.

I also like the comfort, they way they disappear in my ear in both feel and looks (clear model).

I wish the cord was a skoonch longer and the Y was maybe 6 inches longer and that it fit my damn iPhone.
