Hey Head-fi Nation,

I don't know if I'm the only one, but did anyone else get really excited the days after Headfest weekend? I mean I was patiently waiting for impressions on the Westone 3's from all the people who went to Headfest. But it seems that not alot of people posted feedback on the Westone 3's. And for those who posted info on it, it wasn't very clear or it seemed more like they weren't incredibly suprised or not sure if they were completly convinced whether or not they were going to purchase the Westone 3's. And then there were some people who would completly disagree with each other (but agian all opinions are subjective). I do not mean any disrespect by posting this comment its just I was surprise that the number of post on Westone 3 threads were not as consistant as pre-Headfest. I guess I will have to wait untill they come out and people start trying them out.

I guess this is what I get since I did not go to Headfest. I've learned my lesson

As far as pros on the Westone 3's:

-The L shaped jack
- Cord
-From pictures, they seem that they go in pretty snug.

Best Wishes,

Westone was there on day one only. I did a lot of preliminary listening on day one, but was counting on using day two for determining my "final" impressions. So I never got to fully develop my impression of the Westone 3, beyond, "this is heaven"...

Overall there were three earphones that I felt like "this is perfection": Ultimate Ears model 10, Shure SE530, and Westone 3. Very close to "perfection" to me was the entire new Shure SE line and the Westone UM2. They have different family sounds, and so you need to hear them yourself really to choose. Sorry. Westone wins for comfort with me BTW, provided you use the Shure black foamies, with Shure SE series now much closer in comfort than the E series to me anyway.

I did feel that there were two earphones that treaded on providing too much detail in the treble given the typical quality of the source (ipod) and those were the Shure 420 and 530. The treble of those were very natural mind you, not harsh at all, but for my nano without amp and ripped at 192bit rate, they bordered on exposing the flaws. They are so so great though - practically supernatural - as are I think the Westone 3 and top of the line Ultimate Ears. The UE's stick way out of your ear, and this troubles me, but the rep showed me a fix that involved reversing them (wires unplug from the earpieces) and that helped.

Also worth mentioning is that in the Shure SE series, the 210 and 310 sounded, at least to me, incredibly good and I'd tend to go for those or the Westone UM1 if I wanted great sound at a lower cost and with slightly less treble detail. I think the SE series is a leap over the E series, except of course for the unchanged SE530.

Biggest surprise to me were the Crossroads MB and M3 which for the money $45) were remarkably refined, with the MB emphasizing bass and M3 more balanced overall. I never heard such a refined sound combined with comfort for that kind of money. Not sure if they will be imported alas.

YES I left excited from the show......

Awsome I'm very glad to hear that. Thanks for adding to the Westone impressions. You see I didn't know that they were only there for one day. That really explains alot.

I didn't listen to them long enough to give a full review on these, so take this with a grain of salt...

With the Westone 3's, I could not tell the difference between the Tomahawk and my cmoy. When I was at the Shure table, I pulled out my ER-4P's for a comparison, and had the idea of comparing the Tomahawk and my cmoy. I could definitely tell a difference - especially in the highs.

I don't know exactly what this means. The songs I listened to with the Westone 3's weren't lossless, and the songs I listened to with my ER-4P's might have been lossless - I'm not sure. Different interconnects and iPod's were used. Of course, both listening sessions used the line out of the iPod's.

How about mids and highs on Westone 3 if compare to E500PTH?.
