as far as the grados go, your best bet may be to find them online - I suggest taking a look at either Headroom or Todd, our sponsors.

Call Bay Bloor Radio. They had several Grado and Sennheiser models for audition last time I was there. Not sure if they carried SR60's and HD-497's though.

I second Bay-Bloor if you want somewhere in Toronto.

They have the Sr-60's there plus a bunch of other grados.

They have a lot of Senn's too. I don't know if they have the 497 though. I'm pretty sure they have the 570 and up.

BB is pricey though. $200 Cdn for the hd570... etc...

The SR-60s are unfortunately about the same price I am paying for my MS-1s when they arrive, with the currency translation. There must be better places to get Grados in Toronto. But Bay Bloor is a good place to compare and try cans out.

If anyone finds a place in Toronto that sells Grado or Sennheiser for anything near what you can get them for online please let us know! It's hard enough to find good cans locally period, let alone for less than full MSRP.

I found shops in Montreal had a lot better selection of high-end cans for sale, and they were willing to negotiate on price.

Sadly, I think Bay Bloor is the only place that carries any Grados. I tried looking a fair bit 3-4 years back when I first learned about these headphones. I couldn't find them anywhere else. It's sad that in such a large city it's so hard to find good headphones.

And BBR is a complete ripoff. The SR60's run at $130 CDN and the 80s are $170, if I remember correctly.

I have seen Grados in a few stores, but they usually only stock the SR-60 or so. Because Canada is such a small market, I think calls for a RS-1, for example, are extremely rare. This morning, I fantasized about opening up an online headphone store for Canadians

Please, please, please don't buy from Bay Bloor Radio. HD-580s for ~$300!? RA-1 for ~$300-400!? Ridiculous prices. You're much better buying online.

Well today i went to try out the grado's and senns nise headphones, they all pretty much sounded the same, i guess it is because i am useing a cassette player. That is what i will be using them maily for. Now Bay bloor radio is dam expensive way over kill and there service is not so nice, i wanted to try two grado's unwillingly but nisely i got to hear them. Looks to me that i will be going online to todds, but wait i cant buy these things form headphone or goodcans.com because of grado's policy of not send stuff to some country's which includes Canada. Dam! well Todds does not say anything about this so i will contact him and see if i can get a deal. If so thats what i will be getting.

thanks

take care
