I have spent many weeks reading and somehow it always comes back to RSA amps.

The one I am refering to is the HR-2

It will be driving my DT990/250. It is a little on the expensive side, but if it's as good as people say it is, then I may have to get one.

Although I would have like to save a few hundred as I initially wanted to spend under $500.00. Darn!

A very nice amp- my first real home amp and a real eye opener IMO. If you wait around you may be able to find a used one in the $600 to $650 range in the FS section.

but have you consider Corda amp?
They synergies well with beyer headphones.

Would the CORDA CANTATE be a good contender or do I have to look into the Opera?

One thing I have noticed.

HR-2 = according to Ray, it pulls 1 Amp!
Opera = Maximum output 13V / 500 mA
Cantate = Maximum output 13V / 250 mA

Hey, talk to Skylab about the Blue Circle SBH. I believe he owns/owned the Corda (plus a bunch of others) and wrote a great review of the SBH. There is at least on review of the SBH on the internet by an internet hifi mag, as well. Google or go to Blue Circle Audio.com
