I almost want to warn you not to start rolling the opamps and leave it stock because once you start it's hard to stop. I sometimes find myself just rolling opamps searching for the "perfect" sound instead of enjoy the music but I must admit being able to customize the sound to a certain degree is amazingly fun.

I am a J3 owner and I sold all my lower-mid level amps when I heard how good the J3 made my ear/headphones.  You might try the J3 for a while with some of the JetEffect EQ settings before you combo it with the P4 amp.  You might find the P4 just increases the volume -- don't know because I didn't have an amp quite as good as the P4.
