So last night, I laid down and started up my bedside iPod >> HR MicroAmp >> E500 rig... and to my shock, my right-side iem had no sound coming out of it. Thinking it could be the amp, or the iPod, I tried several other sources only to confirm the issue was with the E500.

This morning, I start looking around for my receipt to send them in for warranty repair, when I decide to check them again, one more time for sanity's sake. Again, to my surprise, both sides sounded fine... no problems whatsoever. Has this happened to anyone else? I had checked all connections last night as well, and didn't tighten anything else this morning. Has anyone had this type of intermittent problem with the E500?

Usually it means one of the channels is on the verge of going out. If this is the case, it may be mono one day and fine the next, but over the long term it'll be more and more of one channel. Using it portably will be almost impossible if it's at the jack, as you'll have to constantly rotate the plug to get both channels.

It could be an entirely different issue altogether, but this is what I've experienced twice.

I guess it would be advisable to send them to Shure anyhow. I'll give them a call and see how things go.

YES!! Do that...

my 1st pair E500's would lose the left channel unless i wiggled the cable above the Y.

No biggie, just send them back to Touhy Ave., Niles IL. I sent them back everything that i could fit in the case: cables, PTH, the driver part, battery. You don't have to send back the aluminum cage they come in.
