I just upgraded from a pair of E2 to E3s for a tad over 100$C. It would have been my 4th pair of E2 in about 18 months, with each time the same known cord/connector issue, so I said to myself, might as well upgrade.
Since I used the medium (the new ones) black soft sleeves for my E2s, I figured I'd use the medium grey ones on the E3s. This is where it gets weird. I experience crackling static in my left ear when a song hits a certain level (say U2's Vertigo or Evanescence's Bring me to life). Even if I switch the left earbud with the right one, the static still occurs in my left ear. However I just swapped the small-sized grey sleeve on the left side and it now plays fine, no static at all even with the crappy Evanescence goth rock. With the medium grey sleeve, the static also occurs when I wriggle it within the ear canal. I tried both my Dell DJ and my newer 1 gig Samsung player and the issue occurred in both players.
Any ideas or suggestions? I much preferred the feel of the E2 black soft sleeves as the rubber was much less wimpy than the grey E3s but I can't see a way of fitting them on the E3s.
