Hi,

I’m really confused with this question, so I would appreciate your help very much!
So what are the weaknesses of a PCDP ‘line out’ (with mp3 playback) in comparison with CDP?
I’d like to make up my mind: should I buy a decent amp (to be fed from a PCDP ‘line out’), or just decent CDP? In order to obtain a good sound…

Any opinions are welcome!

I mean just a PCDP ‘line out’ (so the signal is not distorted by a PCDP integrated amp)…
And I assume CDP which is equal to outer amp by price (about 200-300$ ).

A good CDP will probably need an amp as well. Many do not have headphone outs.

That’s right: where are some good headphone outs as well as where are some poor ones on a CDPs (depends on the certain model…)
But I’d like to find in general some weak points of a PCDP ‘line out’ in comparison with a CDP? (if they are)…
So what do you think speaking about 2 equipment combinations (which are equal by price level):
a) PCDP>amp*>phones**
b) CDP>phones**

*- common amp (not a headphones one)
**- phones which don’t require a good headphones amp (something like HD590 )

Is there some evident weakness in sound out of one?
So could a PCDP be a good source of mp3-signal in general in this case? (if a CDP has no mp3playback).

Thank for any replies!

Unless I'm misunderstanding your potential setup, a CDP still needs a headphone amp unless it has a headphone jack. A regular amp will work only if it has a headphone jack as well, as I don't recommend going directly from line out to headphone as headphones aren't built for that use.

That’s right: a good headphones amp never spoil overall sound presentation… But it’s a little bit another thread

And I imply a CDP with a decent integrated amp (just in general)

I mostly need your advice concerning a quality of PCDP ‘line out’ as signal source…
