WARNING: Fake Campfire Andromedas & Vegas in Singapore

Update: See the quoted posts below (or read the first couple of pages of the thread).

I came across this by pure chance. Thanks to the person in Singapore who put up a warning classified that caused the seller to delete some of his listings.

Basically, on Carosell, "gloryrain" has been listing fake Andromedas and Vegas. See the included pictures. They are very clearly fake as the MMCX connectors on real Vegas don't have a plastic surround. [Update: See Ken Ball's reply.] He has tried to hide this fact in a new listing using a generic picture for his Lyra II listing. They are very likely fakes as well.

Please avoid at all costs buying Campfire gear with descriptions like the ones below.

2 for sale post just popped up on my local forum in Malaysia. Selling for less than half the retail price. Selling only the iems, no cables. Hmmm.......highly suspicious.

Link them here, and post screenshots if you can. I think it is well-worth calling this people out for what they are doing.

Well, to be fair, it's just an assumption of mine coz of the timing of the posts. It's better I pm it to you first.

And i thought gloryrain is rather dependable...saw him selling his cables

I had a pair of Vegas which I've now sold and I rarely changed cables, so I can't confirm what my MMCX connectors looked like. But is it certain that the presence of a plastic surround around the MMCX connector is a sure sign of a counterfeit Vega/Lyra II? I'm asking since there are a few online reviews of Vega units (supposedly supplied by Campfire) that show the plastic surrounding the MMCX connector: https://earphonia.com/earphones-iems-ciems/campfire-vega-refined-rich-layered-bass/ and https://justrest.ca/2018/04/09/campfire-vega/, for example. Perhaps there might have been design revisions?

Not defending the units on Carousell or suggesting that they are real, but just wanted to make sure the plastic detail is the best way to determine the authenticity on these units.

That's quite disappointing to see.... I met up with gloryrain before to try his cables, and bought 2 cables from him too. They were really cheap (under $100) and well made, so I thought his Camp audio IEMs listings were legit too.

Exactly...I was looking at the photo post, and thinking he has so many of the IEMs...quite a large investment!
I haven't buy from him before but saw positive reviews for his cables.

I would like to know this as well.

Sadly we have a lot of people making counterfeits. We think the company we use to use to make our liquid metal shells is still making them and selling them to some scammers who are putting cheap drivers into them. Please only buy from authorized outlets. ALL of our IEMs come with a warranty card and number. If you buying something that does not have full packaging, box and warranty cards then you are buying fakes. beware.

Also beware of the Green Andromeda fakes as well.

As for the MMCX, our older models had no teflon bushings/insulator around the MMCX. Our newer models all have a black PTFE bushing/insulator around the MMCX. So ID by this feature is not reliable. Again look for the FULL packaging with matching serial numbers on the box and the warranty card.

    Thank you Currawong.

Thanks for sharing Currawong. One of the pictures of fake Andro I saw had different shapes in the nozzle ports, at least different from my v1.5 Andros.

I bought the real ones directly from Campfire Audio, and I absolutely love my new Andromedas Gold, I have no idea what kind of sorcery you guys put into these IEMs, but they are beyond anything else I've ever listened to. I now have a huge dent in my credit card, but it's a debt that I will be paying gladly cause I got something that deserves the price and effort. I encourage everyone who is contemplating getting this new marvel, to go ahead and get them from the real source, to avoid counterfeits, you'll not only be wasting the money you pay for the fake ones, but you'll also miss the opportunity of enjoying what comes out of the real ones. My next purchase from these guys will be a dark leather case for my new babies.
