Ok,so i use my Sennheiser PX-100's alot. I use them on my Zune player, and sometimes on my PC also. The PX-100 usually sounds so full and nice bass and the midrange has substance to it,etc....

Today i wanted to hear music on my PC,but i didnt feel like going across the room for my PX100, (lazy day off) so i grabbed my Grado SR80 which are sitting right next to my PC.

Everything sounded awesome listening to Techno on Winamp Internet Radio www.orbitalgrooves.com through my Chaintech AV710 with my SR80's. Listened for maybe 3 hours while surfing head-fi and EBay etc.
Detail, openess, all that wonderful Grado punch and fun!!! I could barely take them off....

Ok,so then i decided to go outside,so i grabbed my Zune and my trusty PX-100's.........and they sounded like crap!!!! AHHHH!!!!!!
What happened to my PX-100's!!!!!

So i checked them on my pc,.....again...CRAP!!!!!
eek.gif

So i tried all the other headphones listed in my signature, and it seems that after my ears getting tuned for the SR80's......everything sounds like crap now!!!!

If i listened to my PX-100 for a few hours i guess theyll sound right again,,but omg!

So the moral is.......Dont ever listen to SR80's, unless thats ALL you want to listen to,because those evil things will detune your ears and make everything else boring and veiled and muffled in comparison when theyre done!!!!

So i went for a walk with my SR80's and my Zune.

Gotta buy a decent amp soon! (Corda Move).

I tried the PX100 for one day, returned them the next. They sounded very wrong and nothing like my idea of the Senn sound.

My DT-880 can also have that same effect...not the same as Grado sound but very detailed in treble but mids not as good.

Don't you just hate that?... I am much more of a detail friek now than before. After owning a PK1, Jays IEMs and an A250, I find it nearly impossible to go back to my beloved KSC75, sportapro, FX33 and at times even my K240s

They are so muddy by comparison.

Fortunately, my Grados don't sound any worse.

the PX100 is half the phone of the SR80, what would you expect.....

wait until you try the Beyer 990's........ My very first pair of good phones were already my 990's, so far I had been disappointed with all other (lesser) phones I bought after that (except maybe the super bargain kind like BHK3 and QP's).....

Same here. No details = no fun.

it happens to everyoen, my old sony headphones use to sound like heaven to me, now they sound fuzzy and veiled, even my PMX100 (behind the neck PX100) sound slightly vailed, but i think its becuase of the pads,

i am surprised that a set of modded OVC TC20´s can provide such quality (i do mean the mylarone X3´s)

It just shows that you can't go back. You can go forward but you can't go back. DARN IT!!!Although I can go between my 225's and my 80's and there is no real big let down. Just a different way things are presented.

Kramer5150,
Detail is a mark of a true audiophile

....that's why all true audiophile must have a k701....:p If you like artificial bass, then maybe hi-fi is not your thing....

I had the same feeling when i listened to my MBQuart floats for a few hours and then immediately put on my KSC75's.

The KSCs sounded so coarse and uninspiring . . . . it was depressing.

I've finally found a combo that doesn't make me cringe when I move from home to portable. I can move from my K340 to my UM2 and it's alright! Yes, the UM2 may not have the detail level, soundstage or extension, but it's close enough that I don't cry when I wear them. That makes me happy

I can go back and forth between MS2i and HD600 as long as I'm mindful of the type of music I'm jumping back and forth with.

Both of these phones are similar in SQ although different in presentation, so there's not necessarily the feeling of going forward or back.

I can go back and forth between MS2i and MS-1 especially if the number I'm going TO is one with a more intimate recording. For the on-the-stage or in-the-studio types of presentations with fewer instruments, the MS-1 is often more fun than the MS2i as the MS2i frequently displays it too big!

I can go back and forth between all of my phones with no problems adjusting. When owned one primary phone and just a couple "alternate" phones, it was more difficult to adjust to using different ones. Moral of the story: buy a lot of phones, preferably AKG.
