I was recently using Cayin C5 with my ER4S, it was quite thick, warmish whilst remaining rather detailed. Have a search for the Cayin C5 thread.

It's a pretty good amp.

but perhaps labrat is right. the first step is to get the headphones that suit your ears, then seek an amp that mates well.

There is a member with a blue ALO International + (amp/DAC) for under $400 and a member with a black one for under $450 - original MSRP $599 - low output impedance and a great musical presentation - it uses the CS4398 DAC that's in the AK240 - it has a nice warm punchy sound....

I hate to do this but I like to recommend something else, portaphile 627x. This is the most smooth sounding amp I own, and while it can be boring for me it sounds like just what you want.
