i posted about this a little while ago with little success. thought i might try again.

right now ive got some 6.5 in seperates, infinity "reference" 6000cs

they are better than pioneer and alpine and such, but they are still incredibly bright and sheer and synthetic sounding.

in a car it really bothers me because i am stuck in this little space and i cant move, and i really want the music. plus, sometimes i travel long distances and they get fatiguing.

in the back of the car, i actually just wired up some old aiwa bookshelf home speakers i found at good will. and straped them above the back seat. they actually sound pretty nice, pretty neutral.

so im looking for something warm, as i would rather have to turn the treble up than turn it down. or just have nice warm sooothing sound in the car.

im powering it off a super nice alpine deck, but dont have the funds to buy a dedicated amp because i just bought new cans and im about to buy the hornet.

ive checked out Focal's Access 165. they are definitely A LOT more neutral tahn the infinitys, but i figure there must be something bettter out there. and ive already re-bought speakers about 4 times. it gets better every time, but id like to do it right this time....

THANKS for reading all of this, and for any advice!

check out cdt audio. i think their drivers are made by vifa, not sure about the tweeters. their 6.5" classic line components are on clearance for $150

madisound sells a peerless component set. the 6.5" is about $190. someone on the board said that he likes them more than the dynaudio and focal sets he's heard.

also, check out elemental designs. they are getting a lot of rave reviews. you could check out their board at icixsound.com

you've gotta spend big bucks to go any further

Put your Infinities in a microwave. That should warm them up.

or maybe i could grill them up with some olive oil and garlic? that might be too warm though

thanks for the advice hubcaps. do you know of a website where i could do some research on these various brands? or do you know how they compare to the focals? someone saying that they are better could be good, but then again, i have disagreed with people on this forum many a time

Try infinity's top line speakers, the Kappa Perfect's. I had a set (6.5") in my old car, currently trying to graft them in to my current car. Beautiful sounding speakers, especially once I sound deadened my doors properly.

the best place to ask is probably www.icixsound.com
they have a slight bias towards ed and cdt

another forum is www.elitecaraudio.com

cdt has a few reviews on their website (http://www.cdtaudio.com/awards.html)

in my opinion, focals are much brighter/less warm than the ones i mentioned. i was unimpressed when i first heard them. probably because focal uses metal dome tweeters. i've never been a big fan of focals.

if you are interested, i have a pair of cdt cl-61 that i'm about to sell. they are a little bit too deep for my car. pm me if you are interested.
