While a bright and very neutral headphone, I've gotten somewhat bored of the sound of the V6's. I'm looking for cans with a little more oomph, especially in the bass department (talking about tightness and amount of bass, but NOT boomy), so I would like the low-end to be excellent, and everything else to be very good. I'm also not so excited about the lack of sound stage with the V6's, so I would like to upgrade to headphones with at least decent sound stage.

Uses:
Electronica
Gaming
A little classical

Ideas:
JVC HP-M1000
Beyer DT880 or 990
Denon D2000
Ultrasone HFI-780

Oh BTW, my current setup is just an Asus Xonar DX, I am open to getting a headphone amp after the headphone purchase.

Denon D2000 all the way...great low end, huge soundstage, easy to drive, even without an amp. The Beyers and Ultrasones will definitely need amping to shine

That's a pretty big jump, Erik! Of course, I went form Sony MDR-V700DJ's to HD650's so I can't point TOO many fingers, lol...

Oh wait...forgot about the HD590's in there as well...

I think my fav. choices are the M1000's cause of the very favorable reviews, and the D2000's for upgradeability and better looks. I believe Audiocubes has both, so maybe I'll do an A-B comparison and see what sounds better to me.

I cringe when I see people using the word "very neutral" to describe the 7506.

To my ears, the 7506 are ANYTHING but neutral and VERY shrill.
Basically ANY other set of cans will do better.

Hah well they're the most detailed headphone I've owned, and all I know is iPod earbuds and Sony MDR-EX51SL :p

That was before I discovered Head-Fi, people on Amazon gave rave reviews to the v6's.
