Does Home Depot cut wood panels and wood pieces for you?

I just want a very simple audio rack for my headphone rig. I don't have a saw. Also, any suggestions and advise is welcome. Thanks.

mine was 60 or something becuase I got it at best buy and was packaged as a trendy thing, but they have some exactly like it for ~50. I plan to get one and use a few of its racks, powdercoated black.
let me know if you find it and the cost.

Yes, Home Depot will rip sheets of plywood or MDF for you. They do an OK job, but sometimes it has to be cleaned up at home.

You might want to look in the phone book to see if there is a lumber store or a woodworking store nearby. You can buy wood, MDF, etc. there and most have a workshop. One around here charges $2 a cut, another charges $60 per hour. It is reasonable, though, since they use expensive pro equipment and if they make a mistake, they fix it for free. If you put together a "mill bill" of the cuts you want, you can drop it off there and they'll cut it exactly how you want.

This is a great way to go with DIY speakers, too. Also, if you ever find plans for furniture you like, you can have them cut all the pieces for you. Assembly and finish take labor, but not much skill. You'll save a ton of money over buying at a furniture store.

Thanks for the advise about Home Depot and the other advise about the lumber yard from Uncle Eric.

I discovered and realised that I already have an old audio rack from a previous stereo system in storage. I totally forgot about it. Doh! It needs to be modified with an extra shelf and a few other adjustments.

I bought that exact rack, with the "drawer" , though mine is chrome ($25 for the stand 8 for the drawer), did you paint yours black? I was considering it.

Patrick82,

Are those Solid-Tech "shelves" on the side in your picture?

I just scored a Solid Tech Reference 4 Rack for an unbelievable price. I will be using it in my main system replacing a SolidSteel 5.5 rack.

Didn't think rack would make THAT much of a difference until one evening at my friend's place where we replacing the heavy granite (400lbs) used for precision laser with a Grand Prix Audio Monaco amp stand he just bought.

Now I am looking to complete the set with a Solid Tech amp stand. Are Solid Tech products cheaper in Sweden? Also looking at complementing the rack with a set of Feet of Silence, and they are asking for $500 here in the U.S. That's kind of ridiculous....

Duh! I just saw the "Solid Tech" prints on those black tubes......

Set of 4 Feet of Silence is $455 in Sweden. They are great for heavy components.

If you have light components try some Magix levitation feet. I use them in combination with the Solid-tech rack.
