Bored? Want a good chuckle? Take any piece of text, use Babelfish to translate it into any language you want and then have it translate it back to English(or whatever your home language is). The results are often hilarious.

For example, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles theme song.

Original:

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Heroes in a half-shell
Turtle power!

They're the world's most fearsome fighting team (We're really hip!)
They're heroes in a half-shell and they're green (Hey - get a grip!)
When the evil Shredder attacks
These Turtle boys don't cut him no slack!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Splinter taught them to be ninja teens (He's a radical rat!)
Leonardo leads, Donatello does machines (That's a fact, Jack!)
Raphael is cool but crude (Gimme a break!)
Michaelangelo is a party dude (Party!)

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Heroes in a half shell
Turtle power!

And now translated into Spanish and back to English....:

Adolescent turtles of Ninja of the mutant
Adolescent Turtles of Ninja of the mutant
Adolescent Turtles of Ninja of the mutant
Heroes in a half-rind Energy of the turtle!
They' in reference to world' s the majority of the frightful equipment of the fight (We' re really hip)
They' re heroes in a half-rind and they' re green (Hey - a squeeze obtains)
When the evil attacks of the fibre-removing machine
These boys don' of the turtle; t cut no comfort to it!
Adolescent turtles of Ninja of the mutant adolescent
Turtles of Ninja of the mutant the chip taught to them to be the Adolescences of ninja (He' rate of the radical of the S.A.)
The plomos of Leonardo, Donatello make the machines (That' fact of the S.A., Cat)
Raphael is fresh but gross petroleum (Gimme one plows)
Michaelangelo is a type of the party (the party)
Adolescent turtles of Ninja of the mutant
Adolescent Turtles of Ninja of the mutant
Adolescent Turtles of Ninja of the mutant
Heroes in one mediate rind
Energy of the turtle!

GROSS PETROLEUM,MAN!

What if you took that through a round robin of languages?

For language delight, try Anguish Languish, just type it into a search engine, and the site should come up.

I use this same type of thing on the first day of class to dissuade my French students from trying to use online translators during the semester...

"Looks pretty ridiculous, right? ...that's what I will read in French if you use a translator for your assignments and papers."

I don't think I've ever had a student use one yet.

A story I was told by my father about translation software from a while back had some or other proud company showing off their abilities to translate to Chinese, when someone put in the expression, "Out of site, out of mind." which came in reverse translation into English as "Blind men are mad."

There wasn't a hyphen in the last one in the original text (i.e. "half-shell" vs. "half shell").

I love the "That's a fact, Jack!" being translated as "That' fact of the S.A., Cat!"

I don't know about the whole "Cat" thing, but what I'm guessing happened with the first part is this...

1) s + a = superfluous information... this must refer to initials for some entity... change "s a" to "S.A."

2) apostrophe + s = possessive (change to "of the")... "That" is the possessor of "S.A."... "That's S.A." = "S.A. of the That" (except for it got this one switched around somehow
