I just broke my old Sony HD5 and bought the Zune today. Don't get me wrong, nice screen, good SQ - but I don't know, it just seems like it should do more at about the same size as an iPaq. Nothing wrong with the old Sony, great battery life, sound and much smaller form factor.

I'd gladly trade-off video capability for a small package, excellent SQ, battery life and good navigation. I guess I just want another Sony but ready to move on. I thought the Vision M was also too big, really looking for a smaller package put prefer 30 GB minimum. Any ideas?

I had the same dilemma as yours, and ended up with a used RIO Karma. Yes it's old and more on the legacy side but the old Karma is how every HDD based player should be - ample HDD size, superb SQ unamped, palm sized dimension, lotsa options to play with etc.

The Sony NW-A3000 sounds excellent. More or less the same as my NW-HD1 (and your HD5?) but even better, slightly cleaner and crispier.

I don't see the A3000 on the Sony website. In fact I don't see anything with more than an 8 GB capacity. Was it discontinued?
