Great news. And um, Flac to MP3 to WAV? Isn't that just creating a larger file with the SQ of an MP3?

LOL i got my sis to buy it from taobao for me coz she's the master of it. And when it came she was like $150 bucks for this (Zishan) -.-"

I just wanted to say the Walnut sounds more exciting than the Zishan, and the Zishan is even burnt in for maybe close to a 100hrs. Maybe when i have level-ed up i can try opamp roll

Pretty much. has to be WAV to play though - I guess doing that kicked it down to 16bit.

I say leave it at MP3 or convert the FLAC to WAV and leave out the MP3 step entirely

I was just testing bitrates, as I thought that was the culprit, but its the 24bit thing.

it does, I have plenty of MP3 on mine. if anyone is looking for a way to join MP3s together without re-encoding lossy files (which should be avoided), i use MP3DirectCut to do exactly that. You can go to the file menu, then batch processing, then go to the folder with your mp3s, rearrange them, and then do "Join to file". Useful for people like me who like to use the Walnut in "full album mode".

Sounds great with the Sextett's, T50rp and Havi B3's and that's all I've tried with it yet so 100% so far

At what setting was your volume knob with the Havi?

I really appreciate your "full album wav" suggestion.  It has kept my Walnut experience somewhat organized without cutting the total songs back to a minimum.
