I'm not impressed by the Walnut's sound, I hope it changes after burn in. It's not warm, it has a high pitch sound to it... it sounds the same in every pair of IEM's and earbuds I use. You really do have to change the opamp, to make this thing better... I hope I was sent the new revision of v2 by DD-Audio (2nd Wally), so I can see if that is much better for you guys.

What IEM are you using with it? The output impedance is terribly high, so it's best not to use multi-BA IEM. It'll really put the smack-down on their sound signature!

That really doesn't sound like the Walnut I recognise!

I think you're right, the headphones I put in my ear aren't good enough for the Walnut, that's disappointing considering all the money I spent on them.

The KOSS KSC75's sound great with the Walnut! :)

It's not that they're not good enough for the Walnut. It's that Walnut wasn't designed with multi-BA IEM in mind. If it was, the output impedance would be significantly lower. Just gotta choose higher impedance dynamic drivers for Walnut...

Or those that like a bit of power, like the Monk+

(Edit, at 64 ohms I suppose they're relatively high compared to most IEMs)

Yea i had issues in the past with the KZ ZST. Otherwise, all budget buds and headphones work really well with the nut, phenomenal in fact!

Bro.....knowing that you own C3 i strongly suggest get youself a bluebird U3.6 amp at 35$... very low cost for such a huge soundstage clear sound above all....and the best pair for C3..
Also has an external swith for low high gain setting so tou can drive succesfylly iems and big cans as well...i am thinking to get both C3 and U3.6 for second time as replacements to the originals....cause those are the best sounding combo in my collection includind DX80 X3ii C200 and E12A amp...you wont regret buying U3.6 not for a sec...trust me...

The Pic i saw on Ali express didn't show a hi low switch.  There was this though which looks similar.  (I didn't check the specs)

In all honesty, From the Chinese user reviews on the official Walnut listing in Taobao, they prefer rolling the 2604 opamp, their reception of Walnut V2.1 with solder 2604 is better than the rolled 2604 version.

What I take away is, Chinese community has a preference for 2604!

In terms of phone pairing, both V2 vs V2.1 will be the same: bad "synergy" with multiple BA/hybrid IEMs and bad "synergy" with some 32ohm and lower phones

Koss ksc75 is good pairing because of its 60ohm impedance

You can try that Ifimatch thingy. I have one and it works to make a low ohm earphone that become too energetic or brash much more managed and focused. I'll give it a try when I get my Walnut in the mail and let you know if it's good with the Walnut.

The DIP socket makes a difference.  I replaced the stock one with a gold plated one.

Ifimatch? No idea what that is. Let us know how you like it.

Maybe someone with low ohm headphones can use an adapter like this one? It raises the ohms by attaching the plug adapter to the original plug.
