Have not been lucky enough to hear the HiFiMan so can't really comment but I love the iRiver+D10, that is a very very good rig for a not too outrageous price.

Get the iRiver - it's an excellent rig - comparable to the iMod

but i have a lot of music in 24bit/96Khz Flac...if the Hifi cant do this i go for Iriver rig...

bur iRiver cant send 24bit/96Khz

iRiver (at least with RockBox) handles 24/96 and 24/192 no problem but it does downsample to 16/48 before passing it on to the D10

Does it also downsample if using headphone out or is it just when feeding an external dac or amp?

As far as I've been able to deduce it goes to 16/48 before being passed anywhere, be it internally or externally, however it is not firm or definate knowledge

i'm very interested in the hifiman, but not this generation; i'll wait till they have ironed out the bugs and perhaps have rockbox support available
