Hi folks, first post on this forum i've recently lurked many times in order to get proper education on the matter of tube amps.
Finally i got my hands on a Wa7 fireflies, but i think there's a problem with the volume level outputted by the amplifier.
My chain is a Fiio X1 2nd gen, docked to a Fiio K5 used as a preamp, and then the Wa7 RCA-linked to the K5, headphones are Grado SR80e (just planning to jump to Rs2).I'm using stock tubes even if i purchased the alternative Electro Harmonix (just wanted to try the russian ones first).
My first try with tube amps was with a junk hybrid tube amp, the Bravo Audio V.2,being my first tube amp (more on the solid state side i think) i didn't have any benchmark, so i could say it just worked.
But the key was that the volume knob on the amp was at around 8 o'clock, so just a step from "0", and it already sounded good for me on a volume level basis.
Now with the Fireflies i need to spin the volume knob to around 13 o'clock in order to almost achieve the same volume level (this after a wamp-up of twenty minutes).
I checked the tubes positioning, the cables (just substituted the original power cord because it arrived with an american plug, with a Wireworld Stratus 7, didn't tried yet the original power cord), switching the gain, all seems to be in its right place and configuration, but the volume level seems "low" to me after the experience with the Bravo Audio V.2.
The sound of Wa7 is fantastic, i can really tell the difference with the above Bravo Audio, it's clear even to a profane like me, so i ask, is there probably an issue or it's just my imagination?
Thank you very much for your patience...
