W2002 sound, but more comfortable?

The situation is that I absolutely love the sound of the W2002, but the comfort for me leaves a lot to be desired. The W2002 is by far my favorite headphone that I have heard so far. I was planning on buying the K1000, but after spending a week with them I decided that they were just not for me. Now granted the Melos was probably a bad match for the K1000, but I think I got enough of the sound of the K1000 to make a decision on them.

I just ordered a pair of Ety ER4S to see how these compare, but would like other suggestions for headphones that share the sound characteristics of the W2002. Any suggestion is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Matt,

I own the Sony CD3000 and while they don't sound just like the W2002, I like them even more. Wish you could audition a pair of them as tehy are absolutly incredible headphones!! Just read Kelly's excellent review on them and believe that they are just that good!!

You have me confused with someone. I've never reviewed the CD3000. I've only heard them at the World of Headphones tour and didn't care for them at all.

I found the W2002 extremely comfortable--similar to the CD3000 and Sony R10. This is an odd complaint.

Sorry about that Kelly. I meant to say MarkL. You both are quite knowledgable and write excellent reviews, so take the mix-up as a compliment!!

Yes, I realize that I am probably the only one besides ServinginEcuador that has had a problem with the comfort of the AT's, but they just don't fit my head right. My main problem with them is that they rest on my ears. I am after something truly circumaural like the HD600.

The Maxed Out Home. I'm told this is a poor match but I find the Maxed Out Home to be a good amp capable of driving a wide range of phones very wel and with tonal neutrality. Therefore, if there is some magic amp that voodoo synyergistically creates a better sound for the CD3000, I'll leave that for someone else to enjoy.

And uhm... "and you look like a bucket of ****."

Then I reiterate my original suggestion even more urgently: go and try the Sony CD3000 cans!! They are, IMHO, by far the most comfortable and best sounding cans you will find!!! Teamed up with the wonderful Melos amp these should be nothing short of breath taking!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks!! I've always enjoyed his enthusaism and encouraged his great attitude on his posts, so I take that as a compliment indeed. He's also very kind and gentle form what I've read in his posts, but I don't see that in myself as I get impatient too quickly!!

I find the W2002 to be not quite comfortable as well. Its the ears thing, and they need to be shifed around (the W2002) every once in a while.

I find if I adjust them every once and awhile it helps to improve the comfort, too. I usually take them off for a few seconds every couple of songs or so. It is actually not to bad wearing them, but after I take them off the tip of my ear is usually numb.

On my ears, the W2002 is barely circumaural. It's usually very comfortable, though sometimes I'll have to shift it around after an hour or so, then I'm good for another hour. It's too bad that companies don't offer different sizes of earpads.
