Not a lot of activity in this thread, but if anyone was interested in the Vivo 5xMax, I would wait a bit. Vivo are bringing out a Plus version, which has a better battery and is thicker. The extra thickness is to accommodate the larger battery, but is also supposed to solve an issue with the phone getting too hot.

I spoke to a Vivo reseller and here is some more information about the different versions:

Regular China Version
2000mAh battery and Snapdragon processor

Plus China Version
2300mAh battery and Mediatek processor

South East Asia Version
2300mAh battery and Snapdragon processor

So the South East Asia version is the best one to get as it has the bigger battery, but still has the Snapdragon processor.

+1 for the SEA version.

Thanks a lot malifact, the specs are all great like you say in that other thread I think that vivo implement the sound components well! I will probably buy one over the other phones mentioned, having the 128gb sd possibility is great.
The only question I need to know is. When you record a video how good I the audio quality ?

I recently purchased the HTC one M8 while I was happy with the audio recording on videos which as far as I know is 192kbps . I was unhappy with the playback sound for FLAC and music so it went back on ebay. My Nokia Lumia 630 sounded better apart from the soundstage which was obviously better on the M8.

Im not trying get the perfect device I know it wont exist but something I can be happy with!

So yeah the x5 Max appears perfect, but if you or anyone could find out how the recording is for me id be greatfull. Id like to record my songs with it. Then upload to youtube.

Were you playing FLAC on 630?
My 930 won't play lossless

also Ive been considering the Lumia 930 as it has the best audio recording bitrate which is around 256kbps and 4internal mics. Definetly best for recording. Not sure on playback.

and is listed here

But I want to know why phones have to record at such low audio bitrate when the video is high HD quality ? anyone know

I wonder why a phone just cant record to PCM or something lol

Just a quick warning for anyone who is interested in buying the Vivo X5 Max. I've noticed a lot of people are selling it fairly cheap on Ebay. They are selling the "regular" version, which does not work on 4G in Europe and North America. I have confirmed with Vivo that only the "V version" will work properly on 4G outside China.

Another PRC brand joins the party - any thoughts?

The LeTV-HQ7A chip is the chip that does all the heavy music lifting in the LeTV Max, and it's accompanied by a low-dropout linear LDO regulator that improves power supply stability, and reduces background noise and distortion issues. The phone also supports both 44.1KHz and 48KHz sampling rates via a double-watch crystal system, so that you don't have any artifacts like distortion for files converted between the two sampling rates. We're including the official audio stats right below for the pros to decipher.
