I haven't tried that. I always avoided foam tips but I should at least give them a chance.
I understand you. I had so many foam that sounded horrible or were just so uncomfortable, that i had to take them out and my ears would still be soar for several minutes afterwards.

COMPLY has non of these issues. Sound and comfort are perfect but... that comes with a price. They know they are the best and hence price their earpieces accordingly. But if you can afford an Vision Ears EXT Mk2, there might be some leftover change for the COMPLY^^

Azla Foammax also work very well with both EXT mk2 and VE10, it’s the closest I’ve heard to a silicone tip (in not impacting on treble extension etc) while being as comfortable and isolating as an excellent foam tip.

- I cut out the silicone grid guard.

I gave the EXT MKII a try and I'd say "excellent technicalities" is an understatement. I was blown away by the precision of the imaging. I also enjoyed the emphasized but non-siblant treble, the emphasis of sub-bass over mid-bass, and the smaller shell size compared to most other TOTL iems. My only issue was with the recession of the lower mids but this really depends on what genre of music I'm listening to.
They are an impressive set indeed.

Just curious, what other items are you comparing the ext mk ii in your mind to?

Mainly the Annihilator (2023) which has fuller bodied mids but a little too much bass for my liking. This was why I thought the EXT MKII would be a good next step but it swings a little too far in the opposite direction in the lower mids. I prefer the technicalities of the EXT MKII but, if I'm not using EQ, I prefer the tuning of the Annihilator.

I'm not having an issue with the lower mids. They are slightly pulled back but in a natural way to me. This is with male vocals and instruments like the trombone. Trombone Shorty is a great artist btw.

Interesting.. I'll try to take a measurement of my set and see if it's close to the graph on Bloom Audio. It's probably just that my brain is accustomed to a different sound signature than you. Male vocals definitely sound off to me.

Any comparison with Macbeth by any chance?

I've seen so many IEMs pass through and my current collection is probably as good as its gonna get for me for now (see my sig), but man - this is such a special IEM. It is probably the most opinionated tuning I've ever heard and it is utterly unforgiving for certain music production. Other times, the ESTs can sound really plastic-y.

But it's all worth it. When it hits right, nothing in my collection sounds like it. Squiggle charts be damned. They went for something different and its pretty great.
